Any asset that is going to be used to support a trade credit line must be liquid for a line to be established.
In the order of preference, these assets are viable under certain conditions:1. CASH - A cash bank account in a Commercial account *(NOT PRIVATE BANK) is
the number One preferred asset. In many cases, if the cash is in one of our trade banks
(HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Barclays or Standard Chartered) an INTERNAL
administrative hold may be possible. Bear in mind that the provisional signatory
requirements for cash to be blocked will be in place. This is because a pathway from the
money to the trader is necessary to satisfy the rules around the credit line.
2. STANDBY LETTERS OF CREDIT - A properly issued SBLC where the trader is the
beneficiary is possible to use. The bank it originates from must be a financially solid
bank - preferably a Top 10 Western European Bank (see the Banker's Almanac to
determine strength). The SBLC is more desirable than a Bank Guarantee because it
allows the bank to continue using the cash backing the instrument for their internal
purposes.
3. BANK GUARANTEE - A BG that is newly issued with the beneficiary to be the trader
in order to show the pathway from the instrument to the trading organization. The banks
have lately been moving away from them because of the enormous amount of fraud that
has been going on these last years.
4. BANK ISSUED MEDIUM TERM NOTE - A MTN that has been issued by a large
bank (NO CORPORATE or 144A BONDS!) and appears on Euroclear may be used for
the trade credit line. ALL of the Euroclear Brussels pages are presented along with a
completed KYC for analysis and due diligence. Other documents may be required as
processing continues.
5. BULLION - Gold Bullion in a Bank Vault with a full Safe-Keeping Receipt may also
have a credit line placed against it. The bank provides the SKR with full bank
responsibility.
6. BANK-VAULTED FINE ARTWORK - The LTV on these assets are low, so the
minimum bank-valuation must be high (in excess of 500-Million). The LTV will be
determined only by the IMF and ECB.
IF THE ASSET YOU ARE THINKING OF IS NOT ON THE LIST ABOVE,
IT CANNOT BE USED.
